SPM 2026 Biology Registration and Key Dates

When was SPM 2026 registration open?

Lembaga Peperiksaan runs two separate registration streams for SPM, and the 2026 windows were set out in the registration circular for this year. School candidates were registered by their schools during 1 March – 20 April 2026 (school candidates, online via SPPAT).

Private candidates, which includes repeat candidates sitting individual subjects again, registered during 1 March – 30 April 2026 (private and repeat candidates); late registration 1–15 May 2026.

Both windows have now closed. For a Form 5 student in a national school, registration was handled by the school office, and the student's role was to check that the subject list submitted on their behalf was correct.

For a private candidate, registration was the candidate's own responsibility from start to finish. The rest of this post covers what each group should verify now, and the Biology dates that fill the remaining months.

What did school candidates need to do?

For a school candidate, registration ran through the school's exam secretary using the online registration system. The school entered each student's personal details and subject combination, then printed a confirmation slip for the student and parent to check and sign.

The Biology entry appears under its subject code, 4551, alongside the other science subjects in the student's stream.

The check that matters most is that Biology is listed at all. A student who moved between streams during Form 4 or Form 5, or who dropped and later picked up a subject, occasionally finds the subject combination on the slip has not caught up with the change.

Corrections are handled through the school, and the earlier they are raised, the simpler they are.

• Confirm the subject list on the registration confirmation slip matches what the student is actually studying
• Check that the name and identity card number match the MyKad exactly, including spelling
• Keep the signed confirmation slip in a safe place with the student's other exam documents
• Note the school's own internal deadlines for trial examinations, which usually sit in the months before the real papers

What did private candidates need to do?

A private candidate registers directly with Lembaga Peperiksaan rather than through a school. The registration window for private candidates ran across 1 March – 30 April 2026 (private and repeat candidates); late registration 1–15 May 2026, which includes the short late-registration period at the end.

Candidates chose their subjects individually, paid the registration fee for each, and were assigned an examination centre in their state.

The documents involved are identity-based: a MyKad or equivalent identity document, a recent passport-sized photograph where the form asks for one, and, for repeat candidates, the previous SPM result slip so that the earlier candidate record can be linked. Candidates who are unsure whether their registration was accepted should contact the state education department's examination unit rather than waiting for the exam slip to arrive.

What are the SPM 2026 Biology exam dates?

Biology is examined in three papers, and they do not fall on the same day. The practical paper comes first: Paper 3 is scheduled for Wednesday 18 November 2026 (four sessions), with candidates allocated to one of the sessions on that day by their centre.

The written papers follow two weeks later. Paper 1 is on Wednesday 2 December 2026, 8:15–9:30 am and Paper 2 is on Wednesday 2 December 2026, 10:45 am–1:15 pm, sat one after the other on the same morning.

The whole SPM written examination runs across 23 November – 17 December 2026. Biology's written date sits early in that season, which matters for revision planning: a student cannot treat the full written period as Biology preparation time, because other subjects fall after it and Biology itself is done within the first fortnight.

What should candidates check between now and November?

With registration behind them, candidates have a short list of administrative items to keep an eye on. The examination slip, which confirms the candidate number, centre and paper dates, is issued through the school for school candidates and directly to private candidates.

It should be checked the day it arrives, because any mismatch in personal details takes time to correct.

The second item is the examination centre. School candidates usually sit in their own school hall, while private candidates are assigned a centre that may be some distance from home.

Knowing the route and the reporting time for the Paper 3 session removes one source of stress from a morning that already has plenty.

How do the dates shape Biology revision from here?

The practical paper being first changes the order of revision. Skills such as identifying variables, writing a hypothesis, tabulating results and drawing a graph need to be exam-ready by mid-November, which means practising them from now, not after the written-paper content has been covered.

The two-week gap between Paper 3 and the written papers is then free for essays, structured questions and objective-question drills.

Where does a one-to-one lesson help with the administrative side?

Our teachers teach Biology; the registration paperwork stays with the school or the candidate. What a weekly one-to-one lesson does add is a fixed point in the calendar that keeps the candidate anchored to the exam dates.

The teacher works from the same three dates, plans practical practice ahead of Paper 3, and shifts the lesson content as each paper approaches. Lessons are online, in English, with experienced Biology teachers; rates start from RM50 per hour and are quoted on WhatsApp according to the teacher's experience.
