SPM 2026 Biology Timetable and Weekly Plan

The SPM 2026 Biology practical paper sits on Wednesday 18 November 2026 (four sessions) and the two written papers on 2 December 2026 (Papers 1 and 2; Paper 3 practical on 18 November 2026), so the weekly plan below counts backwards from those dates. Each week pairs one cluster of chapters with one paper-specific skill, and every fourth week is a timed full-paper check.

What are the SPM 2026 Biology exam dates?

Everything in this plan hangs on three dates from the Lembaga Peperiksaan timetable. The practical paper, Paper 3, is scheduled for Wednesday 18 November 2026 (four sessions).

Paper 1 runs on Wednesday 2 December 2026, 8:15–9:30 am and Paper 2 follows on the same morning at Wednesday 2 December 2026, 10:45 am–1:15 pm. The whole written examination season runs across 23 November – 17 December 2026, and Biology sits inside that window alongside the other science subjects.

Two things follow from this. First, Paper 3 arrives roughly two weeks before the written papers, so practical skills need to be ready earlier than most students expect.

Second, Paper 1 and Paper 2 are sat back to back, which means the last week of preparation is about stamina and recall across both papers, not about learning anything new. Our SPM Biology calendar lists the same dates with the rest of the exam season, and the countdown tool shows how many days remain.

How many weeks of preparation are left?

Counting from early September, a Form 5 student has around eleven weeks before Paper 3 and around thirteen weeks before the written papers. That is long enough to cover every chapter once more at revision pace and short enough that the order matters.

The plan below therefore splits the time into three blocks: a chapter-cluster block, a paper-practice block and a final consolidation block.

The syllabus has 28 chapters across two years, 15 chapters in Form 4 and 13 chapters in Form 5. Trying to revise them one by one in textbook order is the most common reason a timetable collapses by week three.

Grouping them by theme keeps each week coherent: cells and transport in one week, physiology of humans in another, plant physiology in another, and so on. The syllabus pages show the chapter list for each form.

Weeks 1 to 5: revising by chapter cluster

The first block covers every chapter at revision pace, one cluster per week. Each cluster is paired with the paper skill that most often tests it, so a student is practising exam technique while the content is fresh rather than saving all practice for the end.

WeekChapter clusterPaired paper skill
1Cell structure, cell organisation, movement across the plasma membrane, chemical composition of the cellPaper 3: identifying variables and writing a hypothesis
2Metabolism and enzymes, cell division, cellular respiration, photosynthesisPaper 3: tabulating data and drawing graphs
3Nutrition and the digestive system, transport in humans, the heart and blood, immunityPaper 2 Section A: structured questions on diagrams
4Respiratory system, excretion and the nephron, coordination, the nervous system and hormonesPaper 2 Section B: one full essay under time
5Inheritance, variation, ecosystems and biodiversity, plant transport, reproduction and growthPaper 1: a timed set of objective questions

Weeks 6 to 9: switching to paper practice

By week six the content has been seen once at revision pace, and the emphasis moves to the papers themselves. Paper 3 comes first because it is examined first.

The practical paper is a practical test (Ujian Amali) with 5 minutes planning followed by 40 minutes answering, so practice sessions should mirror that split: a short planning burst, then the write-up, timed with a phone.

Paper 2 carries 100 marks over 2 hours 30 minutes, spread across Section A with 8 questions (answer all), Section B with 2 questions (answer 1) and Section C where students answer 1 question. The weekly practice target in this block is one full Section A set, one Section B essay and one Section C essay, each marked against a scheme and corrected in a different-coloured pen.

Paper 1 practice is lighter: 40 objective questions in 1 hour 15 minutes once a week, with the wrong answers traced back to the chapter that caused them.

  • Week 6: two Paper 3 practice sets, one Paper 2 Section A set
  • Week 7: one Paper 3 set, one full Paper 2 (all three sections) in one sitting
  • Week 8: one Paper 3 set under exact timing, Paper 1 set, Section B and C essays from a different year
  • Week 9: full mock of all three papers spread across two days, then a full error review

Weeks 10 to 11: the run-in to Paper 3

The two weeks before Wednesday 18 November 2026 (four sessions) are Paper 3 weeks. Written-paper practice drops to one short session so that the practical skills stay sharp: reading an apparatus diagram, stating the manipulated, responding and constant variables in the standard sentence form, drawing a results table with correct headings and units, and plotting a graph with a labelled axis and a sensible scale.

Our guide to SPM Biology experiments lists the investigations that are worth rehearsing in this window.

The last two days before Paper 3 are for a light read of the planning-an-experiment checklist and an early night. A student who has practised the format eight or nine times by this point has nothing new to learn; the aim is to walk in calm.

Weeks 12 to 13: from Paper 3 to the written papers

Once Paper 3 is done, the written papers on 2 December 2026 (Papers 1 and 2; Paper 3 practical on 18 November 2026) are the only Biology target left. This block is consolidation: flashcards and active recall for definitions, one Section B and one Section C essay every second day, and one Paper 1 set every third day.

Diagrams that carry marks in Section A, such as the heart, the nephron, the villus and the neuron, are redrawn from memory and checked against the textbook version.

The final three days step down again: a read-through of essay plans, one last Paper 1 set at exam time of morning, and a complete rest the evening before. Both written papers are sat on the same morning, so the student should practise sitting a Paper 1 set followed immediately by a Paper 2 set at least twice in this block to build the stamina the real day asks for.

How does a one-to-one lesson fit into this timetable?

A weekly online one-to-one lesson slots into this plan as the marking and correction hour. The student does the practice set during the week, the teacher marks it against the scheme before the lesson, and the lesson time is spent on the two or three answers that lost the most marks.

Because our lessons run online, in English, with an experienced Biology teacher, the slot stays fixed even during the school's own trial-exam weeks. Rates start from RM50 per hour and vary with the teacher's experience; the first hour is a paid trial lesson at the teacher's rate, arranged on WhatsApp.

Our last-3-months intensive page describes how the weekly lessons follow the same blocks as this plan.

A sample weekly layout for a school-going student

This layout adds up to roughly five hours of Biology a week, which is sustainable alongside the other SPM subjects. Students who prefer to build their own version can use our study planner to distribute the same blocks across their own free periods.

  • Monday: 45 minutes on the week's chapter cluster using notes and diagrams
  • Tuesday: 45 minutes of active recall on the same cluster, plus one Paper 1 mini-set
  • Wednesday: one Paper 3 practice or one Section A set, timed
  • Thursday: rest from Biology; other subjects
  • Friday: one essay (Section B or C), written under time and self-marked
  • Saturday: one-to-one lesson to review the week's marked work
  • Sunday: 30 minutes of flashcards and a short preview of next week's cluster

Frequently asked questions

Should I start with Form 4 or Form 5 chapters?
Start with the Form 4 cluster on cells, membranes and enzymes, because those ideas reappear inside Form 5 topics such as respiration, photosynthesis and inheritance. The weekly table above interleaves both years by theme rather than doing all of Form 4 first.
What if I am already behind this plan in September?
Compress the first block to three weeks by revising only from summary notes and diagrams, then keep the paper-practice weeks intact. The practice weeks are where marks are gained; the chapter weeks are there to make the practice possible.
How often should I sit a full timed paper?
Once every four weeks during the chapter block, then weekly from week seven onwards. Every timed paper should be followed by a marked review that takes as long as the paper itself.
Where do I find the official timetable?
The SPM 2026 timetable is published by Lembaga Peperiksaan, and our calendar page reproduces the Biology dates with the surrounding exam season. Check the school's own notice board as well for the reporting time on each paper day.
